Dussehra celebrations culminated in the burning of Ravana across India this evening. Ravana Dahan programs were conducted in multiple cities, including Jammu, Delhi, and Patna, witnessing participation from numerous people. In Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu attended the Vijayadashami celebrations hosted by the Shri Dharmic Leela Committee and symbolically initiated the burning of Ravana’s effigy. Despite the persistent rain in Delhi, people showed immense enthusiasm for Dussehra, with large crowds gathering at the Ravana Dahan locations, equipped with umbrellas and raincoats.
President Droupadi Murmu remarked, “Humanity flourishes through the victory of good. The eradication of terrorism, a form of evil, is necessary when it threatens humanity. ‘Operation Sindoor’ by the Indian Army symbolizes the triumph of humanity over the Ravana of terrorism. We are deeply grateful to every soldier protecting Mother India.”
Sonia Gandhi also graced the Ramlila at the Parade Ground.
Various Ravana Dahan events were organized in Delhi, attended by dignitaries like Prime Minister Modi, President Murmu, and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The Nav Shri Dharmic Ramlila Committee at the Red Fort’s Parade Ground showcased a 50-foot effigy of Ravana and 45-foot effigies of Meghnad and Kumbhakaran. Sonia Gandhi participated in this Ramlila event to witness the burning of Ravana.
