The nation celebrated Mahatma Gandhi’s 156th birth anniversary with various programs. Home Minister Amit Shah, during the inauguration of the Khadi Festival 2025 in Delhi, honored Mahatma Gandhi and underscored the importance of Khadi and Swadeshi. He emphasized that Gandhi identified the soul of India, and these two concepts were essential to the freedom movement. He urged the public to buy at least ₹5,000 worth of Khadi products annually.
Shah highlighted the efforts to revive Khadi, starting with Narendra Modi’s initiative in Gujarat in 2003 when he was the Chief Minister. Shah pointed out the significant increase in Khadi’s business, which has grown substantially since 2014, reaching a value of ₹1.7 billion.
