The Indian cricket team, fresh from their Asia Cup 2025 victory, is set to clash with the West Indies in a two-match Test series. The first match of the series, commencing on October 2nd at the Narendra Modi Stadium, will witness a unique playing XI for India. This team will be unlike any seen in the last 15 years, as it will be the first time in this period that the team takes the field without the presence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, or Ravichandran Ashwin, all of whom have retired from Test cricket. The last such instance was in a Test against New Zealand in Nagpur in November 2010.
