India’s Asia Cup 2025 triumph has been followed by controversy involving Mohsin Naqvi. After India defeated Pakistan, India’s decision to not take the trophy from Naqvi, the Pakistan Cricket Board chief and Asia Cricket Council Chairman, led to a situation where Naqvi removed the trophy. At a later ACC meeting attended by the BCCI, Naqvi apologized but refused to return the trophy. Instead, he requested that Suryakumar Yadav collect the trophy in Dubai. The BCCI responded with disbelief, pointing out the unlikely scenario of Yadav traveling when Naqvi failed to present the trophy during the official ceremony. Naqvi intends to travel to Lahore and has reiterated his demand for Yadav to collect the trophy. The BCCI has demanded the trophy’s return, but Naqvi remains steadfast, which has led the BCCI to the possibility of an official complaint to the ICC. At the meeting, Naqvi initially resisted congratulating India, but eventually did so due to pressure from a BCCI representative.
