In the ongoing efforts to eliminate Naxal activity in Jharkhand, a soldier of the 209 Battalion, identified as Sandeep Kumar, has died from a cobra bite during a search operation in the Nurdha forest of West Singhbhum district. The soldier was immediately treated and transported to Ranchi, but unfortunately, he succumbed to the snake venom.
This incident underscores the challenges faced by security forces in the region, who operate in hazardous environments where the threats from Naxals are compounded by dangers from wildlife and natural disasters. It is also recalled that in a previous event, a soldier died from a lightning strike while on duty.
