A grenade blast at the headquarters of the 16 Rashtriya Rifles in Surankote, Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday evening claimed the life of an Indian Army soldier. The explosion occurred around 7:45 PM, resulting in the death of Sepoy Bhavesh Chaudhary of 18 MAC. The loss of life has brought sorrow to the armed forces and the country.
The loud explosion created a sense of fear among those living in the surrounding area. Following the blast, security measures were immediately increased in the Surankote market and nearby areas. A joint operation between the army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police was initiated, with the area being secured and a search operation commenced. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blast.

Separately, two other soldiers were injured in another grenade blast on Monday in the Draba area of Poonch district. The circumstances surrounding this incident are also being investigated. The two injured soldiers were promptly taken to a nearby military hospital for treatment and are now reported to be in stable condition.
