Karur witnessed the appearance of posters condemning TVK chief Vijay, depicting him with bloodstained hands, in the wake of a stampede at his campaign rally. The posters, created by the Tamil Nadu Students Union, were quickly removed. Vijay held a video conference to discuss the aftermath of the tragic event, which claimed 41 lives. The victims included a significant number of women and children. Overcrowding and disarray at the rally are believed to have triggered the stampede. Financial assistance has been announced by Vijay for the affected families and those injured. Additional compensation has also been pledged by both Prime Minister Modi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
