Following India’s victory in the Asia Cup 2025 against Pakistan, Sanju Samson, a standout performer, shared his perspective on his cricketing path. He drew comparisons between his career and the legendary career of Mohanlal. In an interview with Sanjay Manjrekar on Sony Sports Network, Samson detailed his admiration for Mohanlal. He highlighted Mohanlal’s accomplishments in the film industry, including receiving a prestigious award from the Indian government. Samson pointed out that while Mohanlal has been acting for 20 years, he has represented India for 10 years. He stated, “I can’t come in and say I want to do the ‘hero’ role every time. I can do the villain role, and I also do the Joker role for my country.” In a separate interview with ESPN, Samson discussed the intense pressure of the match. He said, “I really enjoyed the pressure actually. I have not played many India-Pakistan games, but today, I think the pressure was all over there. Three wickets down in the powerplay, so I just had to use my experience, calm the nerves down, and just watch the ball and react. That’s what I did, and it came off nicely. I think I had a really good partnership with Tilak, and really enjoyed playing the game today.” The match saw a shaky start for India, as several batsmen were quickly dismissed. Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson combined to build a crucial partnership. Samson was eventually out with a score of 24. Shivam Dube then partnered with Tilak Varma, who achieved a half-century under pressure. The match intensified as India neared the target, with 24 runs needed from 14 balls. The situation became even more intense, with 16 runs required from 11 balls. Dube hit a six, but was later dismissed. Rinku Singh’s contributions, along with key plays from Tilak Varma, secured the win for India.
