At the Snapdragon Summit, OnePlus officially announced the OnePlus 15, setting the stage for its arrival as the first smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The initial launch will be in China, with subsequent releases in other global markets and India. This report provides a glimpse into the anticipated launch date and leaked features.
The launch date in India remains unconfirmed; however, the phone is expected to debut in China in October 2025. The Indian market is slated to receive the device around January 2026, consistent with the OnePlus 14’s January release.
Design leaks point to a revised rear panel design. The leaks show a rectangular camera island on the upper right of the back, differing from the brand’s traditional circular camera module. This could mirror the design of the OnePlus 13s.
The Snapdragon Summit confirmed the OnePlus 15 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Further leaks suggest a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED flat display with curved edges and slim 1.15mm bezels, offering a 165Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. The phone is expected to run Android 16 with OxygenOS 16, with a promise of 5 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches. Rumors also indicate a large 7,300mAh silicon-carbon battery with 50W wireless and 100W wired charging support. The camera setup could potentially include a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom capabilities.
