Maruti Suzuki is preparing to hybridize the 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine used in its Swift hatchback. According to reports, this hybrid technology will be more economical than Toyota’s Atkinson cycle system. It will be a series hybrid system, expected to deliver a mileage of over 35 km/liter. The Indo-Japanese vehicle manufacturer is also working on a premium SUV, which will be over 4.5 meters long and will have three rows of seats. It is expected to share the platform and engine with the Grand Vitara and will compete with SUVs like the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus.
