A situation has arisen in North India, where distributors and exhibitors are reportedly concerned about the distribution strategy for ‘Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1’. The film’s North Indian distributor has allegedly requested a near-monopolization of theater screens and showtimes.
A prominent multiplex manager, who chose to remain anonymous, shared their perspective on the issue. The manager indicated that the email from the ‘Kantara’ distributor requested that all screenings be allocated to ‘Kantara’, effectively excluding Karan Johar’s ‘Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, which is scheduled for release. This approach is viewed by some as a possible infringement of fair trade practices.
Theaters are actively seeking a resolution. It has been confirmed that producer Karan Johar will meet with the ‘Kantara’ team over the weekend to negotiate. However, the multiplex manager stated that if the ‘Kantara’ team insists on controlling the majority of showtimes, the theater may be left with no choice but to remove ‘Sunny Sankari’ from its lineup.
