The recent UN General Assembly meeting has become the center of a dispute between Donald Trump and the United Nations due to technical failures during Trump’s appearance. The issues involved a malfunctioning electric escalator and a teleprompter breakdown, leading to claims of a deliberate conspiracy. Trump has requested a formal investigation into the incidents, claiming he was targeted. White House officials have also demanded that those responsible be held accountable.
The UN, through its spokesperson Farhan Aziz Haq, has responded, shifting the blame for the teleprompter malfunction to the White House. Haq indicated that the White House managed the teleprompter’s setup, including the placement and operation of the equipment. Haq questioned how the teleprompter failed during the former President’s speech given the White House’s control. Regarding the escalator, the UN has indicated that it was functioning before Trump’s arrival, and they plan to release video evidence soon.
In his address, Trump criticized the UN, linking the technical failures to potential job losses resulting from US funding cuts. He also mentioned the escalator incident, humorously recounting his concern for Melania.
