The Uttar Pradesh government has issued a ban on caste-based events, including rallies, programs, and public gatherings. The policy also prohibits the inclusion of caste details in police reports, arrest documents, public spaces, and government records. This move has led to a dispute. Caste-based organizations have voiced their displeasure, and opposition parties have also raised questions. Moreover, opposition to the government’s order has begun within the NDA.
Dr. Sanjay Nishad, the National President of the Nishad Party and a cabinet minister, has opposed the government’s decision. He is asking the government to approach the Supreme Court or find a solution. He stated that imposing restrictions on caste-based programs is not correct. He plans to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership about the matter.
