As part of the ‘Seva Pakhwada,’ a 15-day initiative to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, the Delhi government is undertaking various public service improvements, including a cleanliness drive led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The program, which will last until October 2, includes the launch of 75 services. Gupta, along with the cabinet, participated in a cleanliness drive on Ring Road in Shalimar Bagh, where they cleaned the area. She directly addressed the issue of city defacement, particularly the use of posters and litter, warning against such practices. Gupta stressed that maintaining cleanliness is an ongoing process. She pointed out the litter and posters which contribute to the city’s unclean appearance. Thousands of people participated in the Ring Road cleaning, Gupta emphasized that achieving a clean city requires a collective effort involving various organizations, public representatives, officials, and citizens. She appealed to Delhi residents to stop wall writing and the posting of materials, especially requesting leaders not to use her image on posters. Gupta made it clear that defacement of any kind would not be tolerated, requesting cooperation from both authorities and the public. Additionally, the Delhi government has extended the time for using speakers during Ramlila and Durga Puja, now allowing their use until midnight. Gupta noted the previous difficulties faced by Hindu festivals due to time restrictions, questioning the disparities with other regions where events can continue through the night. All Ramlila, Durga Puja, and other cultural and religious celebrations have been given permission to extend activities until 12 AM. She further highlighted the ongoing development initiatives as part of the ‘Seva Pakhwada,’ including the resumption of the interstate bus service.
