A distressing event has occurred in Gurugram, Haryana, where a police constable was discovered deceased within the premises of the official residence of Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh. The constable was stationed in the guard room when the incident came to light. A colleague found him in an unconscious state, and authorities were promptly informed.
The constable was quickly transported to a hospital, but medical professionals confirmed his death. The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Jagbir Singh, a resident of Sukhpura village in Jhajjar district. Police sources indicate that Jagbir Singh was assigned to security duties at the entrance of Rao Narbir Singh’s bungalow. The preliminary investigation points toward a possible suicide, though no suicide note has been recovered, and police are actively investigating.
The incident unfolded in the Civil Lines area, at the official residence of Haryana’s Minister of Industries and Commerce, Rao Narbir Singh. Police reports indicate that the event occurred around 2:30 AM.
SHO Krishna Kumar stated that the police suspect the constable may have ingested a poisonous substance, leading to his death. The precise cause, however, will be determined after the post-mortem report is available. The police also mentioned that the family of the deceased has not yet submitted a formal complaint or provided an official statement, and the next steps will be decided based on the family’s statement.
The deceased constable was a veteran who started serving with the Haryana Police in 2014. He was deployed for security at the minister’s residence after Rao Narbir Singh became a minister. Several other police officers were also part of the security detail.
