A tragic road accident occurred in Chhatarmandu on Monday, involving a collision between a bus carrying passengers and a truck laden with coal. The accident resulted in three fatalities and left approximately 24 people injured. Six of the injured are in serious condition.
The victims of the accident include truck driver Manish Kumar, a resident of Bengavari Keredari Hazaribagh, and Vilaso Devi, a woman from Jenamod Bokaro. After initial treatment, several injured passengers were transferred from Sadar Hospital to RIMS for more advanced medical care. Ramgarh police were quick to respond to the incident, commencing rescue and recovery efforts.
The Shri Gokul bus (JH 10 BM 8219), traveling from Dhanbad towards Ramgarh, was involved in the accident after the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle. This led to a head-on collision with a coal-carrying truck (JH 13 C 0232). The truck driver and a female passenger died at the scene.
Local residents assisted the police in transporting the injured to Sadar Hospital. The doctors at the hospital referred six critically injured individuals to RIMS for better treatment. Numerous other injured passengers received treatment at Sadar Hospital. The collision was so severe that both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
An advocate, Arvind Kumar Pathak, a member of the Ramgarh Bar Association and resident of Gola, was among the passengers on the bus. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment at RIMS.
The injured passengers treated at Sadar Hospital include Bijendra Rajwar and Kanhu Kumar (Chas Bokaro), Suraj Rajwar (Balidih, Bokaro), Madhu Rani (Bokaro Steel City), Sarita Kumari and W. Mahato (Katra, Dhanbad), Surkhi Pandey and Mantu Kumar (Peterwar), Saguffa alias Pammi (Indrajara Charhi), Shibu Sav and Pano Devi (Jenamod Bokaro), Basanti Devi (Rangamati, Chas), plus eight others, including five children from the same family, all residing in Bokaro.
