India’s defense capabilities could see significant enhancements as Russia has proposed the supply and potential local production of Su-57 fighter jets. In addition, India is slated to receive deliveries of five S-400 “Triumf” surface-to-air missile systems by 2026. Discussions are ongoing to explore further cooperation in this area, including potential new deliveries, according to reports. India initially secured a $5.5 billion deal with Russia in 2018 for five S-400 systems. With the remaining units scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027, these systems are intended to fortify India’s air defense infrastructure against potential threats from neighboring nations.
