Donald Trump spoke at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, held at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, where he paid tribute to the slain conservative activist. He condemned the shooting that resulted in Kirk’s death during a rally at Utah University on September 10. Trump emphasized that the attack was an attack on the entire conservative movement, stating Kirk was killed for his beliefs.
“The gun was pointed at him, but the bullet was aimed at all of us. Charlie was killed for expressing the very ideas that virtually everyone in this arena and most other places throughout our country deeply believed in,” Trump said.
Trump criticised radicals and their media supporters, accusing them of trying to silence Kirk because of his success. He warned against political intolerance and ideological extremism, linking them to acts of violence. Trump referred to the individual accused of killing Kirk, Tyler Robinson, as a “radicalised, cold-blooded monster.” He expressed his hope for justice, and condemned those who celebrated Kirk’s death.
