The BJP has declared a ‘GST Savings Festival’ to be held across India from September 22nd to September 29th. Each Member of Parliament is instructed to lead foot marches within the markets of their respective constituencies. In a recent address, the Prime Minister discussed the GST reforms and their contribution to the ‘One Nation, One Tax’ vision. He also announced the upcoming implementation of the next generation of GST reforms.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the GST Savings Festival will contribute to savings and make it easier for people to buy desired goods. He anticipates this festival will benefit the poor, middle class, youth, farmers, women, shopkeepers, traders, and entrepreneurs. The Prime Minister extended his greetings to all the families of the nation on this occasion.
Earlier in the month, the 56th GST Council meeting decided to streamline the GST rates by consolidating the 12% and 28% rates into two slabs: 5% and 18%.
