A devastating account has emerged from Patna, Bihar, where a woman has detailed the abuse she endured from her husband. The woman claims that her husband used a fake Facebook profile in his mother’s name to post their private videos online. She also accuses him of physical violence and attempting to take her life. The woman, 26, married the man from Samastipur six years ago.
The woman stated that during their marriage arrangements, her husband was portrayed as a five-star hotel owner, but he was only a 10th-grade dropout, while she held a B.Com degree. She revealed her husband’s addiction to betting on IPL matches wrecked their life. She described the financial losses due to his gambling.
She testified that shortly after their marriage, her husband took out loans in her name, totaling hundreds of thousands of rupees, which he used for cricket betting. In 2021, they had a daughter. Her husband even gambled away the money gifted for their baby’s well-being.
Despite her efforts to reason with him, the husband remained unchanged. She eventually sought refuge at her parents’ home. Upon her return, the husband demanded a sum of money before allowing her back. A community meeting was held to mediate, but the abuse persisted.
A neighbor, Aman Kumar, helped her during this difficult period, secretly providing food and milk for her daughter. They developed a friendship.
The woman further disclosed that her husband attempted to harm her. After she raised an alarm, neighbors gathered, including Aman. Aman, witnessing the husband’s actions, offered to take her to her mother. The husband then falsely accused her of an affair with Aman, which Aman confirmed.
The husband subsequently demanded that they marry if their relationship was true, or he would kill them both. He then forced another man to fill her parting line with sindoor. Following this, she went to live with her parents. Later, the husband contacted her mother, instructing her to collect her belongings and jewelry.
When the mother visited, the husband assaulted her, choking her and stealing her phone. He further posted private videos of them on a fake Facebook profile in her mother’s name. The woman filed a case at the cybercrime police station in June, and an FIR was registered. Her husband was arrested but released quickly. A civil court case was also initiated. The case is currently in the Patna High Court, with the next hearing on November 11. In a recent development, the husband expressed his desire to reconcile with his wife and daughter and avoid a divorce.
