The Bigg Boss 19 house has become a stage for Amaal Malik to unveil deeply personal family secrets. The singer-composer discussed his complex relationship with his uncle, Anu Malik, and his father’s career challenges.
Amaal openly spoke about the dynamics within his family, pinpointing his uncle, Anu Malik, as a key player in the struggles his father, Daboo Malik, faced. He claimed that Anu Malik not only undermined his father’s progress but also treated him poorly.
During a discussion, Amaal revealed how family tensions had deeply affected his life. He shocked everyone by stating that he had been dealing with trauma even before his birth.
Amaal shared that his father’s contributions to the music industry went largely unacknowledged, with his uncle contributing to this. He then recounted an episode when his father was offered an opportunity to record a song. After much anticipation, his father discovered the song had already been released, performed by Udit Narayan.
Amaal stated that his father was subjected to a ‘mock recording’ to falsely suggest work. This betrayal greatly hurt his father, resulting in him seeking out ‘confidence pills’. Amaal described his uncle, Anu Malik, as a ‘bad person,’ believing his wife influenced his behaviour.
Furthermore, Amaal detailed his mother’s challenging experiences, particularly during her pregnancy. He said, “My mother was criticised greatly during my pregnancy. She lived in a joint family and had to manage a lot of household work.” The burden caused his mother to express her frustration physically by hitting a cupboard.
Amaal attributed his and his brother Armaan Malik’s accomplishments to their mother’s resilience.
Amaal also discussed a distressing childhood memory. At age seven, he was trapped in floodwaters in Mumbai and saw his uncle’s car pass by. Despite his calls for assistance, the car occupants locked the doors and left him. Amaal said this incident still triggers anger and contributes to his aggressive nature. Amaal stated that his reactions are a result of these past experiences.
