The Malayalam film ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has captured attention and received praise across India. In a recent interview, producer Dulquer Salmaan revealed that his father, Mammootty, and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s father, Priyadarshan, were initially concerned about the film’s potential reception.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Dulquer mentioned that Priyadarshan had expressed surprise at the decision to produce the film, questioning the project’s viability. Dulquer admitted he acted on belief in the idea, even if he was uncertain about the outcome. His father, Mammootty, also shared these initial worries. They are now proud of the film’s success.
Kalyani Priyadarshan shared her father’s message following the film’s success, which was a reminder to remain grounded and not let the success get to her head. She stated that this message continues to resonate with her.
In a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kalyani praised Dulquer Salmaan for supporting a project like ‘Lokah’. She acknowledged the boldness required to invest in a film like ‘Lokah’. Kalyani feels this support helps Malayalam cinema distinguish itself, considering Dulquer a risk-taker, following the legacy of his and her parents.
While the official streaming partner for ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has not been announced, reports from Indiatimes suggest that the film is expected to be available on Netflix after its theatrical run. Dulquer Salmaan’s previous productions ‘Kurup’ and ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan’ were also released on Netflix.
