Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, is reeling from approximately 20 hours of continuous rainfall. The city’s infrastructure is struggling, with roads and numerous residential areas completely submerged. The extent of water accumulation on roads has created pond-like conditions, severely impacting transportation. The relentless rain has brought normal life to a standstill, with many services failing. Residents are facing significant difficulties, including having to navigate through water that reaches their knees.
The weather forecast indicates the potential for this pattern to continue for the next several days. The Meteorological Center in Ranchi has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across the state over the next four to five days. The department has issued a yellow alert for 18 districts and an orange alert for 6 more. The administration has also warned the public to take precautions due to the threat of lightning during this period of heavy rainfall.
