An emergency Arab-Islamic summit is underway in Doha, Qatar on September 15th, organized by the Qatari government following an Israeli attack. Ministers from various Muslim nations have arrived in Doha to participate. On Sunday, ministers from member countries met to prepare for the summit, which is scheduled for Monday.
Majid Al-Ansari, a spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, indicated that a key topic of discussion during the summit will be a proposal related to the Israeli attacks against Qatar. The draft of the proposal was finalized during Sunday’s ministerial meeting.
Al-Ansari emphasized that the summit demonstrates support for Qatar and condemns Israel’s actions.
The summit follows the Israeli strike on Qatar on Tuesday, when Israel targeted senior Hamas leaders. The attack has been condemned by Arab nations and Western countries, including the United States. Qatar is now the sixth nation to be targeted by Israel recently, which has also targeted Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, and Yemen.
Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani stated that Qatar would respond collectively to the attacks, which have destabilized the region, following his meeting with Trump in New York on Friday.
Qatar has a history of promoting peace efforts, aiming to end the conflict in Gaza and foster regional unity. The recent Israeli actions have jeopardized these initiatives. The summit is likely to produce significant decisions affecting relations with Israel, possibly including a full severance of relations.
The significance of this summit is evident by the arrival of over 200 journalists and media professionals from regional and global media outlets, as well as local correspondents, to cover the event.
