Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated several projects in Assam’s Darrang district, including the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, the GNM School, and the B.Sc. Nursing College. The Guwahati Ring Road Project and the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra were also launched. Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, attended the event and presented a memento to the PM, in recognition of Krishak Swahid Diwas.
During his speech, PM Modi referenced his previous visit to Assam, mentioning ‘Operation Sindoor’ and acknowledging the blessings of Maa Kamakhya. He also highlighted the significance of celebrating Janmashtami on the same day. He mentioned his earlier statements about future security policies.
The Prime Minister stated, “Yahi mera remote control hai. Mera aur koi remote control nahi hai, 140 crore deshwasi mera remote control hai…”
PM Modi acknowledged Assam’s strong economic growth, highlighting its 13% growth rate. He emphasized the state’s rapid development and progress, recognizing its contribution to India’s economic expansion.
Furthermore, PM Modi made indirect criticisms of the Congress party, using metaphorical language. He stressed the importance of preserving Assam’s cultural heritage and promoting its rapid development as key objectives of the government.
