President Ramchandra Paudel has announced that Nepal will hold elections within the next six months, with a firm date set for March 5. This announcement follows recent Gen Z protests, which resulted in 51 deaths and left over 1,300 individuals injured. The protests also contributed to the escape of thousands of prisoners. The President has requested the public’s assistance to facilitate the elections.
“After a difficult and hard struggle, a peaceful solution has emerged in the extremely uncomfortable, hostile and frightening situation of the country. The constitution has been preserved, the parliamentary system has been preserved and the federal democratic republic has been established. The people have got the opportunity to move forward on the path of a more advanced democracy by holding the elections to the House of Representatives within 6 months,” as stated in the official declaration.
