The Asia Cup 2025 points table has been updated after four matches. Pakistan and Oman recently entered the competition after matches featuring India, UAE, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and Bangladesh. In the Group A match on September 12, Pakistan defeated Oman with a substantial 93-run victory. This win marked a successful start for Pakistan in the tournament, however, India retained the top spot in the points standings.
The match was played at the Dubai International Stadium. Pakistan batted first and achieved a total of 160 runs for the loss of seven wickets, thanks to a strong batting performance led by Mohammad Haris, who scored a quick 66 runs from 43 balls. Oman’s Aamir Kaleem took 3 wickets. In reply, Pakistan’s bowlers performed well, bowling out Oman for just 67 runs, leading to Pakistan’s 93-run win.
With this win, Pakistan secured 2 points in Group A. Even with this win, the team is still placed second in the points table behind India due to India’s superior net run rate. India had previously defeated UAE in a match that was completed in just 27 balls, resulting in a net run rate of 10.483. Pakistan’s net run rate after its victory stands at 4.650, lower than India’s, which has secured the first position. Oman is in the third position, with UAE at the bottom.
The next match in Group A is scheduled for September 14, a crucial game between India and Pakistan. An Indian victory will mean they qualify for the next round, and a win for Pakistan could see them secure a spot in the next round by finishing first in the group. In Group B, Afghanistan leads after winning their match against Hong Kong. Bangladesh is in the second position after also winning their opening match against Hong Kong. Afghanistan’s higher net run rate of 4.700 puts them at the top, compared to Bangladesh’s 1.001.
