Mukesh Sahani, the leader of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), spoke at the TV9 Digital Bihar meeting in Patna about the upcoming elections. His party is part of the Mahagathbandhan and aims to secure a considerable number of seats. Sahani stated that he remains with the Grand Alliance, yet the BJP continues to extend offers. He shared an anecdote about being offered the Chief Minister’s position in the future by the BJP. Sahani emphasized his accomplishments, stating that he has demonstrated that a son of a Mallah is not only a fisherman but can also create MLAs, Chief Ministers, and ministers. He also accused the BJP of attempting to poach his MLAs. Sahani believes the BJP’s concerns stem from the potential rise of a Nishad community member and their demands for their share of power.
When asked if he had discussed his desire to become Deputy CM with Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD, Sahani explained that their alliance comprises six parties that need allies. He confirmed that Tejashwi Yadav would lead the election under the Mahagathbandhan and become the CM. Sahani reiterated that the Grand Alliance would form the government, and the son of an extremely backward class with 11% vote share would have a crucial role, which means a Mallah’s son could potentially become the Deputy CM.
Regarding seat allocation, Sahani mentioned that his party had independently secured 14-15% of the vote share in previous by-elections. His party is contesting the elections with the Congress as a major partner and wants to secure a good number of seats. Sahani did not specify the exact number of seats he will contest but indicated that they would be contesting a significant number. He believes that his presence ensures government formation, thus eliminating the need for bargaining.
Sahani criticized CM Nitish Kumar’s governance, citing issues such as corruption and the decline in law and order. He expressed confidence that the people of Bihar would support them, allowing them to establish a strong government and deliver on public expectations.
