Motorists who have unpaid traffic challans can settle them at the Lok Adalat on September 13, 2025, and potentially save on fines. Discounts are offered for specific traffic violations. To participate, register online to receive a token number and appointment letter, which are prerequisites for the hearing.
To register, visit the NALSA website and choose Lok Adalat registration. Complete the application form, upload the required documents, and submit. You will receive a token number and appointment details via email or phone.
Make sure to bring original documents, the token number, and the appointment letter to the hearing. It is advised to arrive at least one hour prior to the scheduled time.
The Lok Adalat can offer exemptions or discounts on fines for minor violations such as driving without a seatbelt or helmet, red light violations, incorrectly issued challans, speeding, lacking a valid PUC certificate, parking in the wrong place, driving without a license, lacking a fitness certificate, driving in the wrong lane, ignoring traffic signals, and driving without a number plate.
Cases of drinking and driving, hit-and-run incidents, death due to negligence, illegal racing or speeding, driving by a minor, vehicles used in criminal activities, cases already in court, and challans issued from other states will not be handled at the Lok Adalat.
Cases will be heard in the order of token numbers. The judge may decide to waive or reduce the fine. A fine may be imposed if the violation is serious or repeated. Once an order is passed, the case will be considered closed.
