The situation in Nepal has drawn the condemnation of Manisha Koirala, who has expressed her outrage over the brutal crackdown on protesters. The actress called the events a “black day for Nepal.” The demonstrations, led by the nation’s youth, are rooted in calls for justice, transparency, and the right to be heard. In a show of solidarity, Koirala shared a striking image along with a message in Nepali. The translated message poignantly captures the despair of the day, it says: “Today is a black day for Nepal when bullets respond to the voice of the people, outrage against corruption and demand for justice.” The protests turned violent when security forces opened fire on demonstrators, resulting in the loss of life and many injuries. In response to the unrest, authorities have begun the process of reinstating social media access to meet the demands of the youth.
