A gruesome discovery was made in Ghodasai village, under the Ghatshila police station jurisdiction of East Singhbhum district, as 70-year-old Lukuia Dhiwar was found murdered. The incident, in which her throat was slit, came to light on Monday.
The villagers’ concern arose when they observed that the door to her house remained shut on Monday morning, leading to the discovery of her blood-covered body. This tragic event has caused considerable fear and unrest within the village.
The police have taken a local youth into custody, suspecting involvement in the murder, and are conducting an interrogation.
Villagers recounted that Lukuia Dhiwar had resided alone in her home for many years. She was previously assaulted two years ago by Sunil Dhiwar, who had accused her of practicing witchcraft. While the police became involved, the matter was eventually settled. Now, following this incident, villagers are questioning if this killing is a result of the previous dispute.
Police teams are present at the scene investigating. A forensic team has been called to gather evidence, including the murder weapon and other essential clues. The SDPO of Ghatshila confirmed that the interrogation of the accused is in progress and an early resolution is expected.
