The Punjab government has initiated a comprehensive relief effort for those impacted by the devastating floods, with CM Bhagwant Mann announcing several key measures on Monday. The announcements, described as historic by AAP leaders including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, aim to provide immediate aid to the flood-affected population. Kejriwal emphasized that the scale of the announcements by the Punjab government is unprecedented, noting that no other state government has offered such extensive support to its citizens. He highlighted CM Bhagwant Mann’s dedication, even while hospitalized, to ensuring the welfare of the people of Punjab. Kejriwal commended the people of Punjab for their courage, unity, and selfless service during this crisis. He acknowledged the continuous efforts of AAP leaders and workers. Kejriwal urged party workers to disseminate CM Mann’s announcements, emphasizing the significance of this work. Sisodia also lauded CM Bhagwant Mann’s actions, noting his compassionate leadership and commitment to the people of Punjab. He stated that CM Mann’s decisions aimed to support every household, farmer, and laborer affected by the floods, marking a significant step in the country’s history. The government will provide compensation of ₹20,000 per acre directly to farmers. Additionally, families of those who lost their lives in the floods will receive ₹4 lakh in aid. Compensation for damaged homes will be determined after a survey. Furthermore, the government has deferred loan installments for flood-affected farmers for six months and will provide assistance for livestock losses. The Punjab government has demonstrated its commitment to supporting the flood-affected population, even as CM Bhagwant Mann continues to recover from illness.
