Building on the success of the TVS Ntorq 125 and recognizing the growing demand for sporty scooters among the youth, TVS has launched the TVS Ntorq 150. The new scooter features a more powerful engine and a completely new, modern design compared to its predecessor. Available in two variants, the scooter is priced starting at ₹1.19 lakh and reaching ₹1.29 lakh ex-showroom for the top-spec TFT variant. The scooter also offers four dual-tone color options.
**Design**
The Ntorq 150 has a modern and sharp design that has been specifically crafted for a younger audience. The scooter boasts an attractive front appearance that is likely to appeal to many. Color options include Turbo Blue, Stealth Silver, Racing Red, and Nitro Green. Design highlights include a quad-projector LED headlight setup, new stylish LED DRLs, LED taillights with a “T” logo, painted 12-inch alloy wheels, winglets on the front for downforce, a short sporty exhaust, split grab rails, a street-style handlebar, a 5-inch TFT display, and new switchgear.
**Specifications**
To ensure efficient space utilization, TVS has incorporated a glove compartment and a retractable hook. The under-seat storage capacity is 22 liters and includes a USB Type-A port; however, a boot light is not provided. The scooter can only accommodate half-face and small full-face helmets. This sporty scooter continues to feature 12-inch wheels on both ends. TVS states that the decision was made to keep top speed in mind. The Ntorq 150 has a wheelbase of 1,285 mm, similar to the Ntorq 125, which aids handling. The scooter also features a telescopic front fork, mono-shock rear suspension, disc brakes with ABS at the front, drum brakes at the rear, and a parking brake.
**Features**
The Ntorq 150 comes equipped with a 5-inch TFT display, which is packed with advanced features. According to TVS, there are 22 segment-first features included, making it more advanced than any other scooter sold in India. It also has a 4G eSIM, which enables several connected features. The screen adjusts its brightness automatically and has day and night themes.
Significant features include a top-speed recorder, a 0-60 km/h timer, smartwatch connectivity with Alexa, Android, and Apple, crash alert, live vehicle tracking, last park location, weather updates, social media notifications, music control, call/SMS alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation. The TFT display is controlled using a 4-way navigation button located on the left side. Both brake levers are adjustable.
**Engine and Power**
TVS claims a 0-60 km/h acceleration time of 6.3 seconds for the Ntorq 150, with a top speed of 104 km/h. During testing, the scooter achieved a top speed of around 99-100 km/h. The scooter is powered by a 149.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, producing 13 bhp and 14.2 Nm of torque. The exhaust note is powerful, though some vibrations are noticed when idling. Its weight is a mere 115 kg, which is lighter than some 125cc scooters. The scooter offers two riding modes: Street mode, which includes an engine start/stop feature for better fuel efficiency, and Race mode, which offers more power and the TVS iGO assist.
**Final View**
While individual opinions on the design may vary, the ride and handling characteristics are widely considered impressive. The braking system is efficient and reliable. The front brakes offer excellent grip and the ABS prevents wheel lockup. The absence of features like keyless start and self-canceling indicators may be felt. The under-seat storage could have been more spacious, and the use of 14-inch tires might have improved the overall experience. Despite these considerations, the TVS Ntorq 150 is one of the most advanced and feature-rich petrol scooters available in India, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a scooter with a sporty aesthetic and advanced technology.
