Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been fined for violating traffic rules on seven separate occasions this year. These violations, primarily related to not wearing a seatbelt, resulted in a 2,500-rupee fine. The violations were detected by the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) cameras in Bangalore. All the incidents occurred within the past nine months. The fine has been paid by the Chief Minister. The news emerged after the state government initiated a 50% discount on pending traffic fines. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s vehicles have been fined 8 lakh rupees for overspeeding, prompting criticism against the BJP government.
