On the occasion of Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Day, the Indian Navy’s INS Kadmatt took charge of the mobile fleet review. This indigenously designed anti-submarine warfare vessel showcased the strong partnership and maritime collaboration between India and Papua New Guinea, heading the special event on September 4th.
The fleet comprised INS Kadmatt, joined by FNS Auguste Bénébig, HMPNGS Gilbert Toropo, HMPNGS Ted Diro, HMPNGS Rochus Lokinap, VOEA Ngahau Koula, and HMAS Childers.
The multinational and multi-platform event, hosted in Port Moresby harbor, saw Kadmatt, functioning as the Serial Operations Officer (OCS), competently addressing the event’s various challenges. Following its appointment on September 1st, briefings were given, and precise directives were issued to all ships to guarantee the safe operation and precise maneuvers of the warships.
After extensive preparations within the harbor, the seven warships representing five nations proceeded precisely, maintaining a 600-yard distance, and arrived at their respective salute points at the designated time. Subsequently, all ships safely advanced, concluding the event successfully.
This event highlighted the Indian Navy’s ability to operate effectively in a multinational setting, reinforcing its standing as a well-trained and professional force. It also reflects the growing collaboration between similar navies in the Indo-Pacific area and the Indian Navy’s increasing status as a valued security partner.
