A White House dinner, organized by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump on September 4th, brought together leaders from the tech world, including Apple’s Tim Cook, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella and Bill Gates, Google’s Sundar Pichai, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Scale AI’s Alexandr Wang and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg. The dinner was highlighted by a number of spontaneous incidents. Zuckerberg’s remark to Gates about Trump’s vaccine record was one of them. An unplanned situation occurred when Zuckerberg was questioned about the subject of free speech in Britain. His response, “Sorry, I wasn’t ready,” was captured on the live microphone, sparking laughter from President Trump, who repeated the line to Melania. Trump jokingly suggested that this was the beginning of Zuckerberg’s political career, a claim Zuckerberg refuted. Elon Musk was invited to the event but was unable to attend.
