The relationship between the United States and India, as reflected in recent statements by President Donald Trump, appears to be warming. Following the implementation of tariffs on India, Trump has begun portraying PM Modi as a ‘good friend’ and has issued multiple compliments. PM Modi has now responded to Trump’s expressions of friendship, stating he ‘deeply appreciates and fully reciprocates President Trump’s sentiments and positive assessment of our ties.’ He highlighted the strong strategic partnership between the two nations.
Speaking at a press conference, Trump said that he and Modi would remain friends, calling Modi a ‘great Prime Minister’ and emphasizing the unique bond between the US and India. Earlier, Trump posted on social media, seemingly expressing concerns about the relationship between India, Russia, and China, and sharing an old picture of PM Modi with Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping.
