Howard Lutnick, the US Commerce Secretary, believes India will apologize and strive to make a trade deal with the United States. Lutnick suggests India will understand it cannot progress without the US market. He compared India’s situation to Canada’s actions to strike a deal with the US. Lutnick expects India to initiate negotiations with Donald Trump shortly. This follows remarks by former US President Donald Trump on social media, where he stated the US has lost India and Russia to China. Trump’s comments came after India, Russia, and China participated in a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Tianjin. Trump shared an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump had previously accused Xi Jinping of conspiring against the US.
