The Jharkhand government is enabling Shantanu Modak, a young man from a farming family in Bangoi village, East Singhbhum, to pursue his academic dreams in London. He has received a scholarship of one crore rupees to support his studies at Imperial College and Warwick Business School.
Shantanu’s father, Nirmal Modak, has always supported his children’s education. Shantanu, one of Nirmal’s three children, showed academic brilliance from a young age. To support Shantanu’s studies, his father even sold a portion of their ancestral land. Shantanu’s hard work and dedication were rewarded when he received the scholarship. He completed his schooling in Bodam, followed by higher studies in Jamshedpur. He earned a B.Tech and M.Tech, and though he had aspirations of becoming a scientist, he eventually decided to take up the scholarship and pursue his master’s in London. Shantanu, along with other recipients, will now be able to continue their studies with the support of the scholarship.
