Citroen India has launched the Basalt X, adding a new model to its range. Priced at ₹12.90 lakh, the Basalt X features a variety of enhancements and stylistic updates. The Basalt X is offered with different engine options and trim configurations. The interior of the new Basalt X has been updated with a new dashboard design. The top-spec model has a new two-tone interior theme featuring beige and black, using premium materials.
This model also includes all-LED headlamps, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, a perimeter alarm, and the new Cara in-car assistant. Cara offers a voice command feature to manage tasks like navigation, service history, route selection, and points of interest. Furthermore, Citroen plans to grow its dealer network from 88 to 150 locations in the near future.
The Basalt X U variant, powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine, is priced at ₹7.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Plus variant, available with either a 1.2-liter petrol or a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine, is priced at ₹9.42 lakh and ₹10.82 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. The top Max+ trim of the Citroen Basalt X, equipped with a 1.2-liter petrol turbo engine, comes with both manual and automatic transmission options, priced at ₹11.62 lakh and ₹12.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Citroen Basalt X boasts features like cruise control, an engine start/stop button, and a dashboard with a leather finish. This SUV will also offer keyless entry, an optional 360-degree camera, and a new Garnet Red exterior color option. Additional features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The vehicle will directly compete against established rivals like the Creta, Seltos, and Vitara.
It also incorporates a 7-inch color TFT digital display, automatic climate control, and wireless charging. In terms of safety, the Citroen Basalt X includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ESP, a tire pressure monitoring system, and other safety features. The Citroen Basalt X is equipped with a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 108 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque, paired with a manual gearbox. The automatic transmission variant offers 205 Nm of torque.
