Karnataka Minister H.K. Patil announced that a judicial commission investigating the alleged MUDA scam has given a clean chit to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family. The commission, led by P.N. Desai, found no wrongdoing in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority case. The cabinet supports recommending action against implicated officials, with further deliberation scheduled for the next meeting. The MUDA case concerns the allocation of 14 plots to Siddaramaiah’s wife in 2021. The cabinet is also set to recommend to the State Election Commission that local body elections use ballot papers instead of EVMs, based on concerns regarding the credibility of the voter lists and the reliability of EVMs.
