Volkswagen is streamlining its vehicle naming convention, extending the use of its established ICE car names to its electric ID. series, giving consumers easy access to both petrol/diesel and electric options within the same model family. The Volkswagen ID. Polo, previously previewed as the ID. 2all concept, will pioneer this change, with its global launch planned for 2026, alongside the ID. Polo GTI. Both models will be unveiled at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, running from September 8th to 14th. The ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI will showcase a contemporary and stylish design, distinguished by features like colorful camouflage, sporty alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, custom bumpers, a front diffuser, and a split spoiler. They will be constructed on the MEB Entry platform, with dimensions of 4,053mm in length, 1,816mm in width, and 1,530mm in height. While specific engine details are still under development, the ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI are expected to incorporate a single electric motor paired with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) system, potentially generating approximately 223bhp. A Club Sport performance variant could be introduced later. In addition to the Polo models, Volkswagen is set to unveil the ID. CROSS concept on September 7, 2025. This concept presents an electric version of the T-Cross SUV, with a target market launch by the close of 2026. The new ID. series cars are intended to have improved interior quality, utilizing soft-touch materials, a combination of digital and physical controls, and an intuitive operating system.
