Rohit Sharma, the opening batsman for the Indian team, is keen on returning to international cricket. He has been training hard. Last week, he successfully completed the Yo-Yo test at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru. Along with Sharma, Shubman Gill and other players participated in the test. It was expected that Sharma would also take the Bronco test after the Yo-Yo test, but this did not happen. A significant reason has been revealed: Team India’s Strength and Conditioning Coach, Adrian Le Roux, introduced the Bronco test, but it has not been implemented yet.
According to reports, Rohit Sharma and other players took the Yo-Yo test on August 31st. Sharma passed the test, demonstrating his fitness. While the Bronco test was supposed to follow, it hasn’t been implemented by the BCCI. Therefore, Sharma did not take the test.
TOI reports suggest that the test could take place in Dubai before the Asia Cup. Team India will travel to Dubai on September 4th and will hold their first session at the ICC Academy on September 5th. If the BCCI wants to conduct the Bronco test, it could be held in Dubai, but this is not confirmed. Therefore, Rohit Sharma did not participate in the Bronco test.
Rohit Sharma has been absent from international cricket since retiring from T20I and Test cricket. His last match was the Champions Trophy final on March 9th, where India won against New Zealand. Since then, Sharma and Virat Kohli have not played international cricket.
Both players could return for the three-match ODI series in Australia next month. They are currently training hard. Before this, Sharma had expressed his interest in playing in the ODI series against Australia-A during their tour of India.
