The Maruti Victoris SUV has been launched, entering the mid-size SUV segment with a goal to challenge competitors like the Hyundai Creta. The new SUV is available in six trims, including LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI(O), ZXI+, and ZXI+(O). The Victoris is based on the Grand Vitara platform and powertrain, while also introducing some unique features. The vehicle will be sold through the Maruti Suzuki Arena dealership network.
The Victoris will compete with several established SUVs, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Toyota High Rider, and Volkswagen Taigun. Within the Maruti Suzuki lineup, the Victoris positions itself between the Brezza and Grand Vitara and will be exported to more than 100 countries.
One of the key highlights of the Victoris is its hybrid powertrain, making it the first Arena model to feature a hybrid setup derived from the Grand Vitara. This hybrid setup combines a 92 bhp, 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined output of 115 bhp and 141 Nm of torque. The Victoris will also offer a 1.5-liter K15C petrol mild-hybrid engine and a CNG engine option.
The strong hybrid powertrain is coupled with an e-CVT gearbox, while the mild-hybrid and CNG variants come with a 5-speed manual transmission. A 6-speed torque converter automatic is also offered with the mild-hybrid configuration. A key differentiator from the Grand Vitara is the inclusion of an underbody CNG tank, a first for Maruti Suzuki in India, which helps to maximize boot space.
Inside, the Victoris features an interior design that is very similar to the Grand Vitara, yet adds new segment-first and Maruti-first features. The premium features include a Dolby Atmos audio system and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), making the Victoris the first Maruti Suzuki model to offer both. In addition, a powered tailgate is also available.
The Victoris boasts a range of features, including a 10.1-inch Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient door lighting, leatherette seats and a steering wheel, a sunroof, a 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster, rear AC vents, Suzuki connected car features, a head-up display (HUD), a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, a reverse parking camera, cruise control, ISOFIX mounts, 3-point seatbelts for all seats, ESP with hill hold, and much more. The Victoris has received a 5-star safety rating from the Bharat NCAP crash test and is available in Eternal Blue and Mystic Green with dual-tone color options.
