A major fire incident unfolded in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday night at the Babylon Tower. The fire, which began on the lower levels of the building, prompted an immediate response from the local police and fire brigade. The fire was brought under control swiftly by the fire department, and power to the tower was shut off to prevent further escalation. The enclosed nature of the building led to reports of residents experiencing difficulties due to smoke inhalation. Rescue operations were launched to extract those trapped, with individuals reported to be stranded as high as the 7th floor.
The fire is believed to have started in the basement of the Babylon Tower. The fire quickly spread throughout the building, affecting multiple floors, including the seventh. Emergency services were quickly notified, and the police and fire brigade arrived at the scene. The fire brigade worked to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further, including cutting off the building’s power supply to address any electrical hazards.
As the fire was brought under control, rescue teams began the process of extracting individuals who were trapped inside the building. Concerns grew as smoke and power outages caused distress for those trapped. Local authorities, including the Raipur Collector Gaurav Singh and SP Lal Umed Singh, arrived at the scene to oversee rescue operations and gather information. The fire brigade successfully rescued all the stranded individuals.
Raipur Collector Gaurav Singh confirmed that the rescue operation has been completed. All 47 people trapped in the tower have been rescued safely. No casualties have been reported. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
