Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai’s big initiative for farmers: 60 thousand tonnes of additional urea will be available this month
6.39 lakh tonnes of urea distributed so far in the current Kharif season, 6.17 lakh tonnes were distributed during the same period last year
Urea and other chemical fertilizers are available in sufficient quantity in the state, the central government has approved additional allocation on the demand of farmers
Raipur, September 01, 2025/ A big relief is being received for the benefit of farmers on the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. The Government of India has approved the allocation of 60 thousand tonnes of additional urea for Chhattisgarh. Out of this, 20 thousand tonnes will be supplied in the first week of September, 35 thousand tonnes in the second week and the remaining 5 thousand tonnes will be ensured by the end of the month. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is sensitive to every need of the farmers and this additional allocation will help in securing their Kharif crops.
Markfed officials said that as of August 28 for the current Kharif season, 3 lakh 91 thousand 79 metric tonnes in the cooperative sector and 3 lakh 11 thousand 563 metric tonnes in the private sector, thus a total of 7 lakh 2 thousand 642 metric tonnes of urea has been stored. Against this, 6 lakh 38 thousand 599 metric tonnes of urea has been distributed to the farmers. This includes 3 lakh 42 thousand 444 metric tonnes from the cooperative sector and 2 lakh 96 thousand 155 metric tonnes from the private sector. This figure is more than the 6 lakh 17 thousand 798 metric tonnes distributed during the same period last year, which is proof of the better supply system this time.
Sufficient arrangements have also been made for nano fertilizers for the farmers in the state. A total of 2 lakh 91 thousand 59 bottles of nano urea have been stored, with 1 lakh 78 thousand 919 in the cooperative sector and 1 lakh 12 thousand 140 in the private sector. Similarly, 1 lakh 58 thousand 809 in the cooperative sector and 79 thousand 810 in the private sector, a total of 2 lakh 38 thousand 619 bottles of nano DAP have been collected. Till now, 2 lakh 32 thousand 652 bottles of nano urea and 1 lakh 85 thousand 136 bottles of nano DAP have been distributed to the farmers.
The Government of India has fixed a target of 14.62 lakh tonnes of chemical fertilizers for the current Kharif season in the state. Against this, 15.64 lakh tonnes have been stored in cooperative and private sectors. On the basis of storage, 13.19 lakh tonnes of fertilizer has been distributed to the farmers so far. This arrangement shows that sufficient quantity of fertilizers is available in the committees and private sectors and the farmers will not face any kind of difficulty.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the supply of fertilizers to the farmers in the Kharif season is being done on priority basis according to their timely needs. 98 percent of the determined target has reached the farmers so far. The Chief Minister assured that adequate supply of fertilizers will continue to the farmers as per the needs of the weather and crops and their produce will be safe.
In this regard, Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam and the MPs of the state had also met Union Fertilizer Minister Shri J.P. Nadda and put forward the demand of the farmers of Chhattisgarh. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Sai, continuous contact was made with the central government and keeping in mind the needs of the farmers, an additional 60 thousand tonnes of urea was approved.
Officials said that the distribution of fertilizers is being done in a systematic manner through cooperative societies and private vendors in the state. Farmers are easily getting fertilizers in the committees and timely supply is being ensured. Due to this, farming is getting stronger instead of being affected. According to the information received from various districts of the state, the farmers have expressed satisfaction over this initiative of the government and the administration. They say that the timely availability of urea and other fertilizers is facilitating the work of sowing and crop management.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the state government stands shoulder to shoulder with the farmers. He said that fulfilling basic needs like fertilizers, seeds and irrigation is the top priority of the government. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the coordinated efforts of the Center and the State will provide adequate relief to the farmers in the Kharif season and Chhattisgarh will establish new records in agricultural production.
