Jannik Sinner’s strong performance at the 2025 US Open continued, as he triumphed over Canadian Denis Shapovalov to advance to the round of 16 with a score of 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. Despite Shapovalov breaking Sinner’s streak of hard court sets won, Sinner quickly regained his dominant form. This win also marked Sinner’s 20th career victory at the US Open, a new record for him. At age 24, the Italian player has now won 20 matches in each of the four Grand Slam tournaments. He is now the fourth youngest player to accomplish this feat, joining the ranks of Rafael Nadal, Boris Becker, and Novak Djokovic. Sinner is now set to face Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan in the Round 16 of the US Open 2025. Bublik is one of only two players, along with Carlos Alcaraz, to have defeated Sinner since August 2024. In his prior match, defending champion and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner secured his place in the fourth round of the US Open 2025 after a gritty four-set win against 27th seed Denis Shapovalov on Saturday, August 30. Jannik Sinner overcame a sluggish start to win 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, and extended his remarkable hardcourt major winning streak to 24 matches.
