Donald Trump has reiterated his support for tariffs, claiming that they are indispensable for the United States, despite a recent ruling from a federal appeals court that challenged their legality. He insisted that without these tariffs, America would be obliterated. Trump’s comments were made after the appeals court declared that he had exceeded his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) in implementing these tariffs. The matter will now be reviewed by the US Supreme Court, with a decision expected by late October. The Trump administration is planning to appeal the ruling, and the Supreme Court will have the final say on the validity of using the IEEPA for imposing tariffs. The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit’s ruling upheld an earlier decision by the US Court of International Trade, which had previously invalidated the tariffs. The tariffs, which impact imports from various nations, including India, will remain in force until October 14 to allow for a Supreme Court review.
