Police have made a breakthrough in the investigation of the murder of Rajesh Kumar Thakur, headmaster of the Madhupur Primary School, in the Sakatpur area of Darbhanga, Bihar. The main suspects, teacher Rukmani Kumari and her husband Abhilash Kumar, are now in custody, having been apprehended from their home in Baurwa, Baheri. The crime unfolded on Thursday evening when Thakur was attacked near the Sanskrit school while on his way to the primary school in Kanakpur North. An assailant on a motorcycle shot him with a homemade gun, hitting him in the stomach. He was initially taken to a local clinic and later referred to DMCH. Tragically, he died at Paras Global Hospital in Darbhanga during treatment. The investigation unveiled that Thakur and Rukmani Kumari, who were colleagues in the same school two years prior, were involved romantically. Despite being married with two children, Rukmani wanted to marry Thakur, but he declined. Consequently, he moved to a school near Madhubani. The investigation suggests the couple argued about this. It has also come to light that Rukmani and her husband were at the school shortly before the incident. SDPO Benipur confirmed that an FIR has been registered and further legal action is being pursued. The police are actively searching for other individuals implicated and are committed to uncovering the full extent of the conspiracy.
