A harrowing event in Jharkhand’s Simdega district has left a man battling for his life after his wife allegedly set him on fire. The incident occurred in Ganjhu Toli, under the Genmer Panchayat in Bano block. Manoj Singh was severely burned after his wife, Puja Devi, is reported to have doused him with petrol and ignited it. He is currently receiving treatment at the IGH Hospital in Rourkela.
The Girda OP police have taken Puja Devi into custody and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Sources indicate that Manoj and Puja were married about four months ago. On Friday, a domestic dispute reportedly occurred between them. Later, after Manoj went outside, his wife allegedly followed him and set him on fire. The attack was so sudden that Manoj sustained severe burns before he could react. Local residents and family members were able to put out the fire and rush him to the hospital. Authorities are currently trying to ascertain the reason behind the wife’s actions, the incident has become the talk of the area.
A similar case occurred in the Gumla district of Jharkhand where a woman also set her husband on fire.
